Do you see this poor girl? Look closely at her hair. See the crooked bangs? This is me, age 7. and this hair-do was not uncommon. My dear, sweet mom - try as she might... just wasn't meant to cut hair. It was always the same thing. She cut our hair, step back, look at it, say, "Hmm.. the right side is a little bit longer than the left," cut it again, step back, look at it, say "Hmm... the left side is a little bit longer than the right," cut it again, step back, look at it, say, "Hmm..." You get the point. Inevitably the results were always the same... she'd eventually give up on making it even and we'd end up with ear-length hair that was crooked as can be.
I, apparently have inherited her talents. Last night I was looking at Khursten's hair and thinking to myself, "I could trim that. How hard could it be?" After taking her hair that was down to the middle of her back and 'pulling a mom' until it was at an uneven shoulder length, I decided to quit while I was ahead.
I sent her to school today with some seriously bad hair with the thought in mind that we'd take her to a professional as soon as she got home. She was so cute about the whole thing. She kept saying, "It's not too bad mom. I think you did a really great job for your first try. I don't think anyone will even notice that it's not quite even." She survived school today without any razzing from the other kids. In fact, her boyfriend said, "Wow Khursten! Your hair is beautiful!" (Oh wait... he's not her boyfriend.)
Anyway... as soon as she got home today we went and got her get a professional do. Of course, then Nicole needed her hair cut too. Here's the end result. They're feelin' like a million bucks right now, and I have officially learned my lesson!

What cute haircuts! They look adorable! Cutting little girls' hair is so hard because it's hard to get them to hold still, and they like to cock their heads, which doesn't help with the unevenness problem . . .
They look so cute! My mom never cut any of our hair...I don't know why I somehow think I should be able to do it. Parker currently has a bald spot on the back of his head. I'm terrified to ever try Avery's hair. I think taking them to a professional is a wise decision!
I need a scanner to pull out my seven year old picture to further the bad hair cut proof. I looked just like you, minus the wicked brownie sash because I never got to be so cool. ;)
If I ever think I can cut Lucy's hair, stop me! Chances are, she would look exactly the same in the end.
The new hair cuts are super cute. Nicole looks really grown up with hers. And I didn't know Khurs looks so much like you did. You should scan more old photos in, they are really fun to see.
Why have I never seen pictures of you as a kid before??? You were sportin' so serious bangs. I love it!
I think you deserve a pat on the back for a real effort in cutting Khursten's hair. I've been debating doing the same with Katie's hair, I'm a little scared now. Khursten and Nicole look fabulous!
ooooh! Look at these sassy ladies! I love it! They look like a million bucks! :) I love it! I can't wait to see it in real life!!!
