This is our bedroom.
This is Ryan's side of the bed.
This is where Ryan deposits his clothes each night.
This is our laundry basket.
This is a distance of approximately 17 feet.
After a hard day's work and a hard night of going to school, doing homework, finishing sprinklers, etc., all Ryan wants to do is put on a comfy pair of pajama pants and lounge for a bit. And each night, right before climbing into bed, Ryan deposits said comfy pajama pants right by his side of the bed. For some reason, this drives me insane! At first I had no problem with this. Each morning while making the bed, I'd pick up his pants, fold them up and place them back on their appropriate hanger in our closet or into the clothes hamper. This was a great system for Ryan. He had an never-ending supply of comfy jammies at his disposal. Slowly this task started taking it's toll on my sanity. Eventually I began experimenting with various methods in an effort to get him to walk the 17 feet to the laundry basket. These included asking nicely, asking not-so-nicely, nagging him, suggesting he use one of the drawers in his night stand to store them in, stuffing his floor-jammies into his pillowcase so he would have to sleep on them at night (this didn't work by the way. He never even noticed they were there. Then when I told him what I had done he didn't think it was very funny.) Most recently I began picking them up each morning and hiding them. I thought I was so clever until the repeated requests that I please do some laundry. (I guess he didn't notice the laundry room was empty, his closet was full, and it was specifically his PJ's that were missing)

This will probably not work considering that Ryan slept on his PJs for several days before he even noticed they were in his pillow. It's probably more likely that he will just move them to his desk. I'm guessing that tomorrow they will show up on his side of the bed...approximately 17 feet from the laundry basket. It's a good thing there is a PJ fairy to whisk them away each morning.
It's totally not going to work. I have the same problem at my house, and Enos would LOVE it if I would just leave all our clothes on the floor where they're "easily accessible."
So funny! Audrey told me about your blog. It is so funny and cute. Can't wait to get to know you better.
In my house, I am the Ryan and Kent is the Sarah. He finally had to give up. But it is a little different because I do all the laudry so really I am making more work for myself. You could always try nailing them to the floor. I hear that works pretty good.
I wish that was my only problem. I just leave it on my husbands side of the bed and if it gets bad enough he'll clean it up eventually. But good luck with it.
Oh yeah! Nail them! Or just throw them on the roof, or in the window well, or in the garbage... good thing you are a bit more tolerant then some others we all know and love! :)
I love it, I'm not the only with with that problem. Joel's side is so nasty who knows what is growing underneath the dirty clothes. He has started doing his own laundry though because if it is not in the basket it doesn't get done. But he still hasn't figured out how to get the clothes to the basket but I'm refuse to pick them up. He doesn't pay me enough to add extra jobs to my already long list of things to do each day. Good luck.
FYI to all. I have picked up my PJs for the last couple of days...I'm not sure how long I can keep this up.
I solved that problem by putting the laundry basket on his side of the bed where he likes to put the clothes. That way they still go into the basket, and he doesn't have to go ALL the way over to the other side of the bed to put them in there.
