Seriously? It's JUST a Vacuum!

I know that taking this picture probably makes me the most evil mommy ever! I just don't know what to say. Audrey has always been afraid of the vacuum. It used to be kind of cute. Oh look... Audrey's scared of the vacuum. How cute! Not so much anymore. If she hears it running anywhere in the entire house, she starts screaming and comes running to me. It's then my job to carry her around with me the whole time I'm vacuuming, and then for at least 5-10 minutes after I'm done. Not a huge deal a year ago, but she's pushing 2 1/2. My arms just aren't that strong! This picture was taken before I even turned the vacuum on. She just saw me get it out and this is what we got. Poor little Audrey. Any tips on overcoming a vacuum phobia?

Poor little girl. That is a face of terror. =(
Maybe you could get one of those pretend vacuums that make noise and talk. She won't love it at first, but maybe over time she will want to vacuum with you.

How sad and cute! I don't know what to do, but my first thought was that maybe when you get ready to vacuum... she gets to put on her "special" headphones and listen to her special music on the couch while mom vacuums. Good luck. I would just totally use it as an excuse to not have to clean!

Poor thing! Nyah's not fond of the vacuum either but she'll just go to another part of the house while I do it. Maybe put on a movie with headphones on her? I tagged you on one of my blogs also fyi

That's hilarious! Well, sort of...Parker hates the vacuum, too, but at least I don't have to carry him around. Ouch.

Good luck with her. I hope you can get it figured out.

When I was about Audrey's age, I was afraid of the garbage truck. (The fact that one tipped over in front of our house after taking a corner too quickly, and dumped garbage all over our yard may have had something to do with it.....) I would run and hide under my bed when I heard it coming.

We had the same problem with Nichole and we bought her a pretend one and had her vacuum with us and now she loves it. Might work for you too. Good luck. Hey also can I get your address. My emai is amytalways@hotmail.com, thanks.
