For the past couple of months Khursten & I have been having a battle of the wills over her hair. She has gorgeous hair. I really do love it long. The only problem is she's eight. Eight-year-olds are more interested in just getting out the door rather than making sure they spend the proper time to make themselves look nice. And every time I try to intervene, all I get is crying and whining over my attempts to pick out the big rats nest and snarls that have accumulated from a good night's sleep.
I have been trying my darndest to convince her that she would love, love, love having short hair. She just gasps at me completely appalled that I would ever dare to suggest such a thing. On Sunday I was fed up and told her that on Monday we were heading off and cutting off that hair. There were tears, complaints, and arguments. It didn't help matters that most of that was from Ryan since he was completely siding with Khursten. I was fully prepared to back off and just let her get a trim instead.
When Khursten came through the door after school she said she was ready to go get a cut. She was excited to go short. I was completely surprised. I even gave her the option at least three times to just trim it up instead. But for some reason she had changed her mind, and was completely on board. I don't know who finally helped sway her. All I know is that I win! Ha! (Is that a terrible thing for a mother to say?)
So in the end we went from this:
