Ten Years / What a Surprise

I guess I should start off by saying that the surprise isn't that it's been 10 years. Ryan & I celebrated our 10th anniversary yesterday. It was weird because I have been saying for several months that we've been married almost a decade, but when it was actually official I couldn't believe it. I have now been married for over a third of my life. It's crazy to me to think it's been so long. I was going to type up a sappy post about the past 10 years, but I think I'll skip that and move on to the surprise.

Ryan has school on Mondays and I wasn't even expecting to see him yesterday. I even invited over my little sister Kristy to come and celebrate my anniversary with me. There was talk of watching old Doris Day movies. Then, at about 3:00 I heard the garage go up and guess who walked through the door? Ryan had arranged to have the last part of the day off. He even coordinated with his teacher to miss class last night. He called my sister and told her of his plan and asked her to give up our old movie night. AND AND AND he arranged a babysitter. What a great husband I have!! We got to celebrate our anniversary in style. Do I have the best husband in the world, or what???

I honestly wasn't expecting anything. I mean, hello!! We are going to Hawaii next month for crying outloud. I'm a lucky girl to have such a thoughtful husband. We went to dinner and a movie and he even surprised me with my very favorite thing in the world.

It's a Willow Tree and it's called Anniversary. I cried real tears.

Thanks for making our anniversary so special and for making the last ten years something I would never trade away. I love you Ryan.

Nicole's 6th Birthday

Less than a week before her birthday, Nicole came up to me and asked, "So what are we doing for my birthday party?" Umm.... well.... you never said you wanted to have one. So we threw together an impromptu party. I told her she could invite two of her closest friends and go do something fun. Right away she knew she wanted to go to Kangaroo Zoo and then go to Yogi Berry for dessert afterward. It was a good choice. The girls had so much fun. She had already decided that's what she wants to do for her 7th birthday too.

Rock Make-Up

I love that every little girl on the planet figures this one out. I came outside today and discovered quite the little beauty shop. My girls are so fun.

Our Musical House

Ever wonder why I always seem a little frazzled? Here's a glimpse. This is a constant state in our house, and although I love my girls very much, sometimes I long for just a little bit of silence.

A Place Worth Blogging About

For my birthday, my sisters took me out to dinner last night. My choice = Mexican! I love Mexican food. We wanted to try someplace different and Kristy suggested this place.

The Red Iguana! Oh my gosh! I have never tasted such good food in my entire life! If the chef had come out and proposed to me, I would have said yes right there on the spot. Ryan who? I'm not lying, the mole brought a small tear to my eye. I'm telling you, if I was Mexican I would be 500 lbs. So I'm blogging this for the benefit of all my readers. GO TO THE RED IGUANA!! You will not regret it. It's super hard to get into and we had to wait for over an hour on a Tuesday night, but it well worth the wait.

Plus, an added bonus. We had the cutest, flirtiest waiter I have ever met. He talked Jill & I into eating a pepper that must have been off the charts on the Scoville scale. He told us we would win a special prize if we did. All we could manage was to suck some of the juice out and I'll tell ya, our throats and lips burned for HOURS! But we were rewarded with a very large slice of some sort of Delicious Dulce De Leche cake. Mmmm mmm mmm.

My Kids Are Awesome

I think this video sums it up. How could I not love these guys?

Out of the Mouths of Babes

This morning I was in my bathroom blow-drying my hair and Audrey came in.
"We going to church today mommy?"
"No Audrey. We're not going to church today."
"Yes mommy, we are going to church."
"Nope not today."
"Then why you doing you hair?"

Yes... it's pretty sad when my 2-year-old equates me doing my hair with going to church. It must be a pretty rare thing around here.
