A couple of weeks ago Playmobil contacted me and asked me if I'd like to do a give-away for them. As many of you know, we are a big Playmobil family around here (as seen by this post) so of course I told Playmobil that I'd love to be part of their give away.
So here's your chance to experience the magic yourself and get a free Playmobil toy. Playmobil sent me the two playsets pictured below to give away, and you have a chance to win one!

To help nurture your child's imagination, Playmobil wants to know how my readers might use a Playmobil playset to create "teaching moments" during playtime. These could range from teaching about numbers by counting the pieces of a toy to teaching what doctors do and how hospitals help people using the Playmobil Hospital set. One way that we have done this was to teach Audrey her animal sounds by using the different animals from the Playmobil sets. (Playmobil follows the WOMMA Code of Ethics / blogger code of ethics )So here's how you can enter: Post a comment on this blog post telling me a way that you could use Playmobil as a teaching moment. Each person who comments will be given an entry into my drawing. For every friend you refer to this post, you'll be given an additional entry into the contest. Just make sure they mention your name in their comment. To maximize your chances of winning, feel free to link to this post from your own blog, and have your friends put your name when they comment on this post! The contest is open to anyone who comments!
On December 15th, I will do the drawing, announce the winners and send out prizes! (If you were referred to my site, please make sure to leave me a way to contact you in case you are the winner) Merry Christmas from Playmobil & Me!!!

Hooray for Playmobile!! This might be obvious, but from the two sets you have pictured, you could teach about marine wildlife, ocean plants, etc.
With these 2 Playmobil toys I could help my son's imagination develop by giving it a story line to create an adventure world that these little guys could live in, or maybe paint the inside of a big box to look like being in an under water world to play in.
I'm game. You can use the top toy to teach about underwater life. Have the children identify the gills, teeth and top and back fins. The bottom toy they can identify shapes, count the number of shapes and colors. My husband may teach them about different engines that are in submarines, boats, and water skis. You could do a million things with these toys if you get your imagination working.
I'm in for sure! Love me some Playmobile. I think that anything that encourages imagination and creative play is a learning toy. Too many video games at our house takes that away. These would be great for helping with that. I also love that it encourages parent/child interaction.
Awesome!
Sign me up!!! Okay, for my older son (7) we could discuss the dangers of sharks in the ocean and proper safety measures necessary - I wish I could say I was kidding, but I'm not. Sharks are scary.
For my younger kids (4 and 1/2) it would be more about the colors, shapes, and imagining great stories for the toys.
My boys LOVE sharks and sea creatures! These would be awesome to teach them about life under the sea. Pick me! (Tamara sent me!)
My boys are getting their first Playmobil toys for Christmas this year (just a used set I found). I'm so excited! The reason I am so excited to have them play with Playmobil toys is to have them use and better develop their imagination. I think one way these toys can be used in a teaching way, is to help children understand language skills and emotional skills as they play with the little guys. They can learn how to "talk" to each other in imaginative ways (like creating stories and adventures) and then learn how to respond to the conversation with different emotions. I just like how instead of just driving toys around or walking animals around, when children play with Playmobil toys, they can make the guys talk while they are playing!
We just got our first Playmobil set and I love that it has so many different parts (we got the nativity set). But my son is only two, so we would play pretend (like we always do) about new adventures that we will one day take and about different ocean adventures. (Tamara sent me)
Playmobile toys can be used to teach and improve imagination skills. With television and video games so prevalantly used to entertain our children, they lose the capacity to imagine and have pretend play. Playmobile toys definately give kids the chance to create, pretend and imagine. It helps them to think outside the box. Kristin Anderson sent me to your site. Thanks!!!
I like to have the kids tell me stories and include other toys in it. Either from the same company (how does the playmobil diver play with the circus guys).
I work in a preschool (not for profit) and would looooove to win this for there!
I would use to talk about ocean ecology and the food chain.
I could tech my son about which animals like in the water or on land.
I would use these toys to teach my little ones(2 and 3) shapes, colors, and to work on their counting. They look like they would be fun to learn about underwater life too.
LOVE playmobile. These sets would lend themselves to teaching about underwater exploration, oceanography, and sharks. A stack of library books and these sets would make for a nice homeschooling morning at our house!
My son loves anything to do with fish. This will help me teach him more about them, and it will also teach him to learn to share with his new brother!!!!
I use Playmobil to teach my son about history. He loves hearing about medieval Europe and ancient Rome.

My son just turned 3 and there are so many moments you could teach with these sets. Just playing with them at all would help simple eye hand coordination. I think the imagaination is one of the greatest gifts that children have that adults forget and this would help his imagination to grow and grow. :)

Fun giveaway! I'd use these Playmobil toys to teach my daughter about which things float and which sink in the water.
Woo hoo! Give-Aways are so fun! I would LOVE these toys to teach my kids about sea life in detail...to teach them that there is a world beyond the small one that they know now! Although...they would probably end up teaching ME more than I would teach THEM. Kids are so much more creative!
My 4 year old son would love taking either of these toys into the tub to play with and imagine that he is in the ocean with these sharks and divers. I imagine he will pretend he is a super huge water monster and he will attack the shark!
Yeah! How exciting! We were just introduced to playmobil. With the ones you pictured you could teach your child the difference between animals that live in the water and animals that live on land. Also, a great way to introduce new words into their vocabulary. Hope I am lucky!
My son has some fine motor delays, trouble holding a pencil, etc. Maniputaing the teeny little playmobil accessories is good practice for him.
Audrey referred me and I want to give my vote to her...if I can. Merry Christmas!
These Playmobile toys could be used to teach my kids about ocean life, and how scientists are learning to take care of the oceans & it's creatures. Of course, my daughter will somehow turn these toys into a family, with an elaborate famiy scenario!

Since we live in Illinois and have no salt water nearby this would be a great way to teach about sea life and how it exists in places other than the aquarium :) Thank you!
i'd use these toys for so many teachable moments...opposties, science, stories and role playing come first to mind!
We have been a big Playmobil family for the last 12 years or so. Our biggest sets have been the Victorian home and the medieval castle, both of which have been created with such attention to detail that it makes teaching a breeze. The kids absorb so much history just by playing with the toys, and then when we talk about those time periods they can easily picture architecture, weapons, furniture, etc. that was used then because of their familiarity with their toys.

I would of course do the obvious... use it to teach colors, numbers, beginning sounds of things, etc.
BUT i would also use it with older children (who you may think have "outgrown" it) by having them create plays/stories using the toys and once they have verbally told it to me, we would move into writing about it!
What a great way to get kids excited about learning... they think they are PLAYING! :-)
My son is a hug fan of his Playmobil pirates. I actually use them to teach sharing and cooperation. When he plays alone, the pirates tend to battle each other, but when I play with him, we make the pirates team up for big treasure hunts. He sees that way of playing is lots of fun too. And, though it almost kills him to think about it, if he wants to have a friend play pirates with him, he has to line up his pirate guys and take turns picking them, with his friend going FIRST (kind of like captains picking teams in gym class.) That way, he must let the friend have an even number and a fair shot at the "good ones."

I would use these to teach my son about sealife and ocean! He adores going to the beach and has a great imagination these seem like toys he would adore!

I love toys that just stimulate imagination!

Any time you have a chance to sit and play with your kids can be turned into a teachable moment. Simply sitting with them and listening to what they have to say lead to some serious learning. Playmobile toys allow your kids to manipulate a situation using figures that look like the real thing.
The toys help my son develop his motor skills.
These are great. I would use these in my classroom to teach dramatic play and fine motor skills
My kids love imagination play and these toys would be great for an under the sea adventure!
Obviously Playmobile toys encourage use of imagination. Interacting with toddlers by simply counting the figures is a learning step. These sets teach a lot about their focus- such as awareness of the ocean and its inhabitants. Awareness leads to care ... later in life they might still care enough to preserve healthy oceans :-)

I think these Playmobile toys would foster a love for adventure. I hope it would help my kids to feel more comfortable trying new things...to enjoy all that life has to offer.
Thank-you

I would love to teach my daughter about marine life with Playmobile toys! Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love this. We like to see where our kids imagination goes when they play with these. Thanks, and Jill Oaks sent me here.
Playmobil toys are very useful for acting out the stories we are reading or the history lessons we are learning. Makes it much easier to play, I mean pay attention.
Anything to do with water and my son eats it up, my daughter too! This would really spark the imagination wheel and they would have fun doing it! Its good to teach about different careers in life such as marine biology and undersea exploration. tedebare118@yahoo.com
I love these! I think these are awesome to introduce interests and career ideas (you can never start too early *wink*). My first chemistry set at 8 has translated to a career I love using the same principles.
What great toys! While playing with these you could talk about what things live in water and what things do not, and why.

I would love to use this to teach my kids about the ocean

I would love to use the ocean one to teach about ecosystems and how all the animals live together.
The little boys I'll be giving this to love animals! This could be a great companion to their animal storybooks. n33dt0b3free at yahoo dot com
I have 3 boys and have never heard of Playmobil before now. I think my boys would all enjoying Playmobil. I think that when children play they learn!
